The training area

Buckner Ridge

One piece of ground, rendered fresh in your browser every time. Contours come from marching squares over a 16-meter sample grid. Streams come from a real D8 flow accumulation over the same surface, so drainage runs where the terrain says it should. Both scales draw the same ground at the correct contour interval — 20 meters at 1:50,000, 20 feet at 1:24,000.

Phase 1

Read the map

Plot and measure

Access questions

Which email do I type?

The exact one you used at checkout — the one your order confirmation landed in. Capitalization does not matter. If you checked out as a guest with a different address than your usual one, use the guest address.

I bought it and it says no purchase was found.

Almost always a second email address. Check your order confirmation and use the address it was sent to. Fresh orders can also take a minute to settle. If it still fails, reply to your order confirmation email with the order number and we will attach access by hand.

Do I need to type it every time?

No. Once you are in, this browser stays unlocked for 60 days, then asks once more. Use the same email on your phone and it unlocks there too.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The map, the protractor and both compasses are built for touch. A tablet or laptop is easier for the plotting drills, but nothing is desktop-only.

Does my progress save?

Yes, per browser. Module completion and exam scores are stored locally on the device you study on. Clearing site data clears progress — the course itself stays available.

Do I need internet while I study?

Only to load it. Everything after that runs in the browser — the terrain, the contours, the instruments, the grading. No server calls, no tracking.

What is it built on?

TC 3-25.26 Map Reading and Land Navigation and ATP 3-21.18 Foot Marches, plus the Suunto MC-2 guide and the NOAA magnetic field calculator for declination. The three figures the internet usually gets wrong — which protractor scale is inner, what a doctrinal pace is, and how far a degree of deliberate offset moves you — were checked against the source text.
